ROXY JULES

ROXY JULES puts out first Danish-language EP

Out today, April 25, ROXY JULES unveils her first EP in Danish, titled Alligevel. With this release, she continues her exploration of a contrasting soundscape, where noise rock and distorted guitars collide with electronic beats, thoughtful lyrics, and the cinematic, dreamlike details that have always lingered on the edges of her music.

The title Alligevel (which translates loosely to Nevertheless) contains an inherent contradiction – it highlights the remarkable and the unexpected. That feeling permeates all five tracks of the EP.

The word is also drawn from one of the songs, where ROXY JULES sings:

“Curious lips meet in the dark, while the wind keeps rearranging itself.
And suddenly I’m so happy that the tips of my fingers gently brush
the most beautiful fear of dying.
Like a tired machine lifting itself on white wings – nevertheless.”

Language is curiously explored throughout the EP, with lyrics that twist into unpredictable melodies, constantly challenging themselves to find new directions – a process that makes the songs even more captivating.

Since her debut album in 2011, ROXY JULES has stood out as an uncompromising and experimental artist. With four full-length albums, two EPs, and countless concerts under her belt, she has established herself as one of Denmark’s most powerful voices in the alternative scene. Her persistence was recently recognized when she received the Solo Artist of the Year award at the 2025 Danish Alternative Music Awards – a well-deserved tribute to her commitment to forging her own path in music.

Alligevel was created in close collaboration with producer and musician Valentin Kruse, a long-time creative partner. Together, they’ve crafted a work where the Danish language merges with ROXY JULES’ intense, dystopian, and poetic sound.
