Isam B releases song to confront hatemongers
The Danish singer and songwriter Isam B is now on the verge of releasing his first Danish-language album since 2007’s Institution, which included the modern classic “I Danmark Er Jeg Født”. (In Denmark I Was Born). From the upcoming album, Isam B has already released two singles—”Snart Blev Vi Ældre” and “Acetone”—and with the release of the single “Provokatør”, he once again touches on the theme that has driven him as an artist since the creation of Outlandish: cultural clashes.
Provokatør (English: Provocateur) shines a spotlight on those keyboard warriors and hatemongers who poison discussions and debates on social media — something that many who dares to express an opinion in the public sphere has experienced. With the song, he focuses on the division that some try to create between “us and them” in a world marked by fear-driven narratives. Production-wise, the verses are delivered with a dark, blurred tone, reminiscent of a boxer recovering from a barrage of punches, while the choruses light up in contrast and confront the opponent’s use of manipulation and dirty tricks.
