New single from GCC
Ghost Coast Choir was born out of an idea to make the beautiful classical choral music accessible to all.
In connection with a live concert at C/O Pop in Cologne in 2015 with their indie-band Alcoholic Faith Mission, the two men behind, Thorben Seierø and Gustav Rasmussen, did a show together with the German choir Cantus Domus and the idea of creating choral music really took off: A classical choir album was to be made with a twist and it had to be with down-to-earth lyrics that could reflect people’s daily lives, hopes and dreams.
Now Ghost Coats Choir have recorded their debut album in Denmark together with the Aarhus based Ensemble Edge.
On their debut album, planned tbr March 2021, Ghost Coast Choir invites the listener into a new sound in choral music. Adding electronic manipulations, guitar effects pedals and vintage tape machines to the ethereal sound of classical choir, they sing songs that revolve around the personal and the pain of losing. All this without involving the higher powers.
The harmonious, beautiful sound of the choir form the centerpiece of the music and electronics and post-production adds an ambient/alt-classical soundscape reminiscent of Nils Frahm or William Basinski. Combined with acute lyrics that delve into the trials and tribulations of the modern human and encompass both the splendid and the sordid, the celestial and the earthly, the music is at once timeless and timely.
