Southern Gothic Tales is a Danish folk band whose frontman Anders Riis contributes with high quality lyrics and melodies.

On their second album “Modern Man” (2012), Southern Gothic Tales was assisted by members from the two Danish bands CODY and Efterklang which resulted in impressing co-works and songwriting by Anders Riis.

The songs of Southern Gothic Tales are relevant histories of a man struggling to find his role in the modern society. The music draws the listener into a dreamy universe with tracks oozing of melancholy like the band name, which they got from a documentary about the late country-musician Gram Parsons, suggests.

In 2014, the band released their new album “I’m an Island”.
